Web Design inTruckee
Custom websites for the restaurants, lodges, and mountain brands of Truckee, from the studio that branded one of the historic district's own dining rooms.

Truckee went from railroad stop to one of the West's most quietly moneyed mountain towns. Its websites haven't caught up.
Made by Plume works in Truckee the way a local does, because for practical purposes we are one. The studio sits thirty minutes down I-80 in Reno, and our identity work already hangs in the historic district.

A mountain town whose audience arrived before its websites did
Truckee's transformation over the past decade has been something to watch up close. Commercial Row and the historic downtown became a real dining destination, not aprés-ski filler but rooms with serious culinary ambition serving an audience that flies in from everywhere. Martis Camp, Lahontan, Gray's Crossing, and the Palisades corridor concentrated more quiet wealth within fifteen minutes of downtown than almost any town this size in the West. The airport brings private traffic year-round, and behind the visitor economy sits a community that has grown protective of what makes the town feel like Truckee rather than a resort simulation.
The town's businesses now serve one of the most design-literate audiences in the country, people whose reference points are Aspen, Jackson, and the best of the Bay Area, through websites that mostly haven't changed since the transformation began. Search any Truckee hospitality category and you'll find template sites, builder pages, and businesses represented by little more than a map pin, all in front of an audience that notices the difference immediately.
For a restaurant, lodge, tasting room, or outfitter here, that mismatch is the whole opportunity. In a market this small and this affluent, the first well-designed website in a category becomes the one everything else gets measured against.
In a market this small and this affluent, the first well-designed website in a category becomes the reference point. Everything after it gets compared.
Why web design carries extra weight in Truckee
Truckee businesses live on decisions made from far away. The Martis Camp homeowner planning a dinner for visiting partners, the Bay Area family booking a winter week, the wedding party comparing venues from three states: almost every high-value guest evaluates you online before ever crossing Donner Summit. A city business can survive on foot traffic and habit. A Truckee business's website often is the first visit, and it carries the entire first impression alone.
This audience calibrates quality fast and forgives little. These are people who book Relais & Châteaux properties and eat at places with waitlists. A site that loads slowly, buries the menu in a PDF, or looks like a snowboard-shop template from 2015 quietly re-prices the business downward before a single review gets read. The reverse is also true: a site with restraint and craft signals that the room will have both. In a market where the average check and the average nightly rate keep climbing, that signal is worth real money.
Seasonality sharpens everything. Truckee swings from ski-season crush to shoulder-season quiet twice a year, and the businesses that thrive can retell their story, summer weddings, fall corporate retreats, winter dining, without rebuilding the site each time. We structure builds so a season is a content change, not a redesign, and so event and private-dining inquiries reach you instead of dying in an unmonitored contact form.
Searches here are low-volume and high-intent: a few hundred people a month, many ready to spend heavily. When the whole market moves through a handful of daily searches and AI-generated travel answers, showing up confidently in each one is the difference between full and quiet.

Dressing a luxury business in a template
Truckee's audience shops the best of the West. When a $200-a-head dining room or a $900-a-night lodge presents itself through the same theme as a rental-gear shop, guests feel the dissonance instantly, and price expectations drop with it. The site has to match the caliber of the room or it undercuts everything the room charges for.
Building for locals in a destination market
Most Truckee sites assume the visitor already knows the town. No arrival context, no seasonal framing, no answers to the questions someone in San Francisco asks before booking. The high-value guest is planning from elsewhere. The site has to work for someone who has never stood on Commercial Row.
Letting the off-season fossilize the site
A site still showing ski-season content in July tells every summer visitor the business isn't paying attention. In a two-season town, a website without a steward falls out of date twice a year, every year. Our builds carry ongoing stewardship because mountain-market sites die of neglect faster than city ones.

The closest studio working at this level
Truckee businesses have historically had two options: a well-meaning local generalist, or a Bay Area agency that treats the town as a novelty account. Made by Plume is the third. A studio thirty minutes away whose founder has spent twenty years on luxury hospitality and entertainment brands, from Las Vegas casino work for MGM Resorts and Borgata to resort identities across the country, with work already hanging in Truckee's historic district.
Proximity here is method, not a talking point. We can sit in your dining room on a Tuesday, photograph the light your guests will actually see, and be back for the launch. We know the difference between the Martis Camp audience and the day-tripper audience, and which one your margins depend on. That knowledge shows up in the design decisions: what gets said first, what gets shown, what gets left out.
Truckee is also personal for this studio. It's where our mountain-market work is proven, and where we want the bar for local web design to be visibly higher. The next great Truckee site raises expectations for every business in town. We'd like to keep being the ones who build those.
The website is one piece of a mountain-market presence
In Truckee our engagements usually braid brand, web, and search together: the identity that earns the price point, the site that carries it to a distant audience, and the search program that wins the few hundred high-intent queries the market produces each month. One studio, one standard, all three levers.
Straight answers.
